Upchuck
Upchuck have burst out of the Atlanta indie rock scene and grabbed our attention. These punk revivalists have drawn from a broader scope of genres to produce two DYI albums and an EP that are high energy gold dust. The band's first offering to the public was the self-titled EP 'Upchuck'.
Another great song on the EP is 'Freedom'. It is clear from the get go that this is a band that is not going to be put into the straitjacket of any particular genre. I could be wrong but Upchuck have embraced the essence of what drove the infancy of the punk movement out of the manufactured industry wastelands. Upchuck have laid down the gauntlet to people's expectations.and are going to do their own thing. It is a joy to listen to.
'Sense Yourself' was the band's debut album and it lyrically spoke to me. I love this band.
'Boss Up' is another great song on the album. Armando's voice is a kicker. Wow.
'Bite the Hand That Feeds' is Upchuck's follow up album and it screams to the world that this is a band that has a lot to offer. 'Freaky' is a song to get the party started.
Upchuck have kicked their way onto the Coachella line up in April 2024 so, if you are going, do yourself a favor and make sure you check them out. The band is doing a bunch of other more affordable shows if Coachella has priced you out of the market. All the details are on the band's webpage.
