King Crimson
King Crimson were a UK progressive rock band that pioneered math rock via their seventh studio album, 'Red'. The album is considered to be the album that lays the foundations for math rock with their complex atypical rhythmic jump starts. Although the album barely made it into the charts at the time, its momentum has grown and it often appears in credible best album lists. 'Starless' was a song from the album to get the ball rolling.
'Red' is also considered to be one of the greatest guitar songs of all time. It has influenced many artists who were to follow. Kurt Cobain cited 'Red' as an album that helped shaped their album 'In Utero'.
It is hard to believe but there are only five songs on the 'Red' album. 'Fallen Angel' is a song the band never played live and is one of the last songs on a Crimson studio album to feature an acoustic guitar.
'Red' is put forward as one of the heaviest albums of all time for good reason. Have a listen and enjoy!
