Minutemen
Minutemen were a punk band from San Pedro, California. They were Econo Warriors before it was a thing. They had this ethical stance of doing things in a thrifty way where everything from touring to the length and style of their song was cut back to the bone.
The band released four studio albums before they broke up after the tragic death of Dennes Boon at the age of 27. The band was known for their political firebrand that was delivered with the raw energy of punk rock.
'Double Nickels on the Dime' is considered to be one of the band's best albums and appears in all credible best album lists. 'Corona' is on the album and it is a song to love. If this song sounds familiar it is because it was picked up as the theme song for MTV's 'Jackass'.
The Clash listed the Minutemen as one of the quintessential punk bands up with the likes of the Ramones and Buzzcocks. Minutemen are a band that made an ethical stance that become the foundation of the DIY indie rock movement round the world.
