Venom
Venom were a British band from the north of England who's first two albums propelled extreme metal into the consciousness of a new generation. Their debut album, 'Welcome to Hell' is hailed by many to be trash metal gold.
'Weclome to Hell' is cited by all the big four thrash metal bands, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax and being a big influence on their musical direction. Metallica were the opening act for Venom in the early 1980's. To pay tribute to the band, Venom opened for Metallica and Slayer on the 'Ride the Lightening' tour.
Their follow up album, 'Black Metal' also had a massive impact on the thrash metal, death metal, and black metal scene. In fact the black metal scene draws its name from the album.
'Leave me in Hell' is a song from the album that is in your face from the get go.
At the time Venom didn't just shake the tree, they chopped it down, threw it on the fire and watched it burn. Thank God they did.
